Description
The most notable physical features of the Mesy Mark 1 pre amp pedal are the two caged 12ax7 vacuum tubes protruding from the top and the inclusion of not one, not two, but three volume controls (labeled Volume 1, Volume 2 and Master).
The reason for the abundance of volume controls is that this particular pre amp is based around a cascading gain stage system. Each stage pushes the next in line.
‘Volume 1’ affects the signal path after the first gain stage. This will add a fat distortion at high levels without changing the overall volume too much.
‘Volume 2’ acts upon the third gain stage. This is where the real magic happens. Adjusting this has a pronounced effect on the upper and lower mids and adds a thick, warm yet rounded bite.
‘Master’ this is the final volume and will adjust overall audible level but it is also great to push the valves in one of our Baroni Lab power amp heads.
This creative approach to gain stacking is complimented perfectly with a highly adjustable 3-band EQ.
